Koami Shrine sits among the buildings of Nihonbashi in Tokyo and is a small shrine known for warding off bad luck and for financial fortune. The customary practice is to wash money at the money-washing well in the grounds and receive a charm. There are separate lines for worship, for washing money, and for buying charms, and on weekends waits of about 20 minutes have occurred. During tourist season the wait can exceed 30 minutes, which is the drawback.
