The Hokkaido Museum of Literature displays literary materials from Hokkaido and the Ainu people, and it sits inside Nakajimakoen. Its permanent exhibition covers writers from Hokkaido and the history of literature set in Hokkaido, while special exhibitions present themes such as film directors and picture book authors. A free reading room holds materials that are hard to find in libraries and provides a copier, and a cafe on the basement level looks out over the park. The exhibition volume is small, so a visit finishes in 30 to 45 minutes.
