Suikyo Tenmangu is a small shrine in the Tenjin district of central Fukuoka, dedicated to prayers for academic success. It is known as the origin of the place name Tenjin, and large carp can be seen in a small pond. It can be visited while walking from the Ichiran main branch toward Tenjin Station, and local office workers stop by even on weekday mornings. The grounds are small, and some parts have peeling paint, showing a lack of upkeep.
