Nishi Park in Chuo Ward, Fukuoka, is a park-style monument for viewing cherry blossoms, a 10-minute walk from Ohorikoen Subway Station. About 1,300 cherry trees, including Somei Yoshino and weeping cherry, are spread throughout the park. It was established in 1881 as Aratsuyama Park and renamed Nishi Park in 1900, and it contains Koun Shrine, an observation deck, and benches. The stairs leading up to Koun Shrine are long and steep.
