The Edo Castle ruins stand in Higashi Gyoen on the east side of the Tokyo Imperial Palace, the former center of the Edo shogunate. The stone base of the keep, moats, walls, and wide lawns remain, and the grounds are kept like a park. Admission is free, visitors have their belongings checked at the entrance, and the admission ticket is returned on the way out. The site is closed on Fridays.
