Bar Marsella is an old bar in the Raval district of Barcelona that serves absinthe. The drink is prepared by slowly pouring water over a sugar cube on a fork until it dissolves, then adjusting the alcohol strength before drinking. It opened in 1820, retains its original architecture and murals, and was visited by Picasso, Dali, and Hemingway. The interior has a strongly worn feel.
