Kaminarimon Gate

Kaminarimon is the large temple gate at the entrance to Sensoji and Nakamisedori in Asakusa, a short walk from Exit 2 of Asakusa Station on the Ginza Line. Behind the gate, which holds an oversized lantern, a long shopping street of souvenir and food shops stretches onward. Around 9 a.m. the crowd is relatively thin, making it easier to photograph the front of the gate, and some Nakamisedori shops have not yet opened. During the day the area is too crowded to take photos or look around.
