Abashiri Drift Ice Sightseeing & Icebreaker Ship is an icebreaker cruise that departs from a point a 15- to 20-minute walk from Abashiri Station and breaks through drift ice in the sea off the coast. Passengers can go out on deck to watch the drift ice in the sea breeze, or view it from designated seats at the front of the ship. Same-day sailing status can be checked on the website about an hour before departure, and tickets are issued on site. If waves are high or the drift ice is pushed out to the open sea, the sailing may be cancelled or the drift ice may not be visible.
