Dongmyeong Hwareo Direct Sales

Dongmyeong Hwareo Jikpanjang is a raw fish restaurant on the back street by the Sokcho Maritime Police Station at Dongmyeong Port in Sokcho. It serves platters of wild-caught flounder, rockfish, samsiki, and cheongeo hoe, and boils maeuntang from the heads of the fish used for the hoe. Tables inside the market building look out on the sea and mountains, and the second floor also faces the night sea. The fish heads are placed on a plate and shown to diners, which can be visually off-putting.
