Hanazono Shrine is in Shinjuku, near Shinjuku Station and Golden Gai, and is a place for prayer. During festivals, drum and dance performances are held, and takeout stalls are set up at the lower part of the shrine. The grounds are fairly large for the middle of a city, and at night people can rest quietly under the lights. It is especially crowded during Hatsumode at New Year and during festivals.
