Yamacho

Yamacho is a small local udon shop on the outskirts of Harajuku in Tokyo that serves miso- and soy sauce-based udon. Its signature miso udon comes with a thick miso broth and chewy, firm noodles, and toppings such as egg, tofu, and chicken can be added. An elderly couple runs the shop, which sits on the left of two shops down in a basement. The owner does not speak foreign languages, so ordering is difficult for customers who do not know Japanese.
