Watarium Museum of Contemporary Art is in Shibuya, Tokyo, near Omotesando. It shows contemporary art, including media art and installation art, with a focus on works from outside Japan. Designed by Mario Botta, it opened in 1990 and grew out of the Watari Gallery founded in 1972. The exhibition spaces are small, which makes it hard to see the works in full, and the first floor and basement hold a shop selling art books, artist works, postcards and other goods.
