Hwabangsa is a Buddhist temple on the slopes of Mangunsan in Namhae, looking down over the Namhae sea. The grounds hold Daeungjeon, Eungjinjeon, Myeongbujeon and Chilseonggak halls along with a large Yaksayeorae seated Buddha statue and pagodas, and the shortest course of the Mangunsan hiking trail starts here. The temple was founded by Wonhyo during the reign of King Sinmun of Silla and was moved to its current site in 1636 after the Imjin War. Visitors arrive by car and walk a short distance to reach the grounds, which are not large.
