Wat Phra That Doi Kham is a Buddhist temple on a mountain in Chiang Mai, about a 30-minute drive from the city center, where visitors see a golden stupa and a large Buddha image. Many locals come to make wishes and offer jasmine flowers to the Buddha, and the grounds also hold elephant statues, a reclining Buddha, and a Hanuman statue. Records state the temple was built around 687 during the Hariphunchai Kingdom, and the golden stupa enshrines the Buddha's relics. Around 5:50 p.m. the temple was quiet and admission was free.
