Izaka-ya Gap sits in a basement alley of Mangridan-gil in Mangwon, Seoul, and calls itself an izakaya while serving Chinese food as a small pocha-style Chinese eatery. The menu centers on dishes that bring out spice, such as gaji twigim, mapo dubu, and baek jjamppong, along with seasonal specials. On weekend evenings at 7 p.m., three of the main dishes have run out of ingredients, and a reservation is what secures a table. Seating is limited to six or seven small tables and a G-shaped counter, which makes the small size the drawback.
