Kyoto Railway Museum

The Kyoto Railway Museum is a walk from Kyoto Station and displays trains and railway culture from across Japan. Visitors can see real trains and steam locomotives, and try a diorama, a driving simulator, and a signal operation experience. A full visit usually takes two to three hours, and steam locomotive rides run in time slots, so booking ahead is better. Exhibit explanations are often written only in Japanese.
