Shodenji is a Buddhist temple in the northern outskirts of Kyoto, in Kita Ward, and it holds a karesansui garden. The garden arranges azaleas in groups of three, five, and seven on white sand and borrows Mount Hiei in the distance to complete the view. Visitors walk up a mountain path to reach the temple grounds, and sitting on the edge of the veranda allows a quiet stay facing Mount Hiei. Viewing the garden requires a separate admission fee.
