Funaokayama is in Nishijin, Kita Ward, Kyoto, and combines medieval castle ruins with a park. Ouchi Masahiro built it in 1467 as a position for the western army during the Onin War, and remains of the sengaku, dorui and yokobori survive. The climb to the top takes about 10 minutes, and a loop trail inside the park passes explanation boards and traces of the castle site. Trees and grass block the view along some sections.
