Sawai Shoyu Honten makes traditional soy sauce and moromi in a residential neighborhood near the Kyoto Prefectural Government Office and the Kyoto Imperial Palace. It sells two-year-aged double-brewed soy sauce, raw soy sauce, dashi soy sauce, ponzu, and soy sauce snacks. Founded in 1879, the shop moved to its current location around 1883 and still makes soy sauce with domestic ingredients and old methods. Large wooden barrels used in production sit inside the store.
