Deoksugung sits across from Seoul City Hall and is a cultural landmark where late Joseon palace buildings stand alongside modern architecture. Hanok and Western stone buildings share the grounds, and the palace can be walked in about thirty minutes. The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul is inside the grounds, so a palace visit can continue into an exhibition. It does not have the grandeur of Gyeongbokgung.
