Gwancheondae is an astronomical facility from the Joseon dynasty in the southern part of Changgyeonggung. It was built in 1688 during the reign of King Sukjong, and an armillary sphere was placed on the platform to observe celestial bodies. The granite platform is 3 meters high, 2.9 meters wide, and 2.3 meters deep, and it was moved during the Japanese colonial period before returning to its original location during the Changgyeonggung restoration project. The observation instrument is no longer there, and only the stone platform remains.
