Tai Kwun is a cultural site in Central, Hong Kong, converted from a former prison, police station, and courthouse. It sits close to the Mid-Levels Escalator and holds prisoner cells, a plaza, exhibition and performance spaces, restaurants, cafes, bars, and shops. Entry is free, and visitors can walk the large plaza and see the old prisoner cells and a museum covering Hong Kong history. Shops close if you arrive late at night.
