Gion Sasaki is a Japanese restaurant in Gion, Kyoto, about a 10-minute walk from Keihan Gion-Shijo Station. Its course menu is creative, grilling bamboo shoots and abalone over high heat in a stone oven and having Chef Sasaki personally form the sushi. The 12-course dinner starts all at once at a 12-seat counter open kitchen, where guests sit after removing their shoes. Reservations are difficult, so plans to visit should be made early.
