Gion Rakumi is an a la carte kaiseki restaurant serving Japanese cuisine, a five-minute walk from Gion-Shijo Station. At the counter, diners choose ingredients such as tuna, Spanish mackerel, striped jack, mackerel, squid, and sea urchin from a neta box, then decide how each is prepared as hoe, grilled, or fried. Reservations are taken for two seatings on weekdays, at 17:30 or 20:30, at a 14-seat single-slab counter, and the same ingredient can be ordered with a different preparation for each person. Choosing both ingredients and preparations takes time, which slows down ordering.
