Near the south gate of Yasaka Shrine in Gion and Higashiyama, a restaurant serves Kyoto-style kaiseki arranged like a painting. Courses use seasonal vegetables and ingredients in season, finished with gold leaf decoration and architectural three-dimensional compositions. The building is a converted ryokan over 100 years old, with private rooms facing a garden, and guests remove their shoes before entering. There is no menu to choose from; only one set course is served.
