Kaiunji is a Buddhist temple in Fukuoka's Hakata Ward, a walk from the subway's Gofukumachi Station, and it enshrines Enma, the king of hell. Enmado and Kannondo stand side by side on the right side of the grounds, and Enmado houses Enma and Datsuba. The temple opened in 1396, holds the Enma festival every January and on August 16, and features the custom of offering konnyaku to Datsuba. In the capsule fortune draw, papers ranging from daikichi to shokichi are placed inside color-coded Enma figures, and the gold figure comes out with a probability of one in sixty.
