Hwajinpo Marine Museum sits inside the Hwajinpo tourist area in Hyeonnae-myeon, Goseong, and covers the marine ecosystem of the East Sea coast while looking out over both Hwajinpo Lake and the sea. The shell museum displays about 40,000 items including rare shells, crustaceans and corals, and the fish exhibition hall shows rays and tropical fish. Exhibits are divided into shellfish on the first floor, fossils and specimens on the second floor, and aquariums on the first and second floors of the annex. Bicycles for the Hwajinpo Lake trail can be borrowed free of charge, and the admission fee is high relative to the scale of the exhibits.
