Aunt’s Original Soybean and Pufferfish Soup

Gomone Wonjo Kongtang Hwangtaetang is a restaurant in Seoul that serves thick, creamy kongguksu and kongtang and hwangtaetang. The kongguksu uses chewy jungmyeon noodles in the thick soybean broth, and the mung bean pancakes are crisp outside and filled with mung bean inside. Orders and payment are handled through a table order system, and banchan and hot barley tea are taken from a self-service bar. At lunchtime a wait forms, and the many notices posted on the walls make the interior feel busy.
