Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine

Dazaifu Tenmangu is a shrine in Fukuoka dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, the deity of learning, located a 5- to 10-minute walk from Dazaifu Station. Three arched Taikobashi bridges over the entrance pond represent the past, present, and future, and many worshippers come to pray for academic success. Inside the grounds, old camphor trees and a moss-covered forest continue, and visitors can touch a bull's head to wish for wisdom and academic achievement. The main hall is under renovation, so only a screen and a temporary main hall are visible.
