Lacolto is a small shop near Ohori Park in Fukuoka that sells handmade ice cream in flavors such as milk, pistachio, and strawberry. An elderly couple makes the ice cream in the back of the store, and the fruit flavors carry the distinct taste of the ingredients themselves. There is seating for about six people inside and about four outside, and the woman presses each scoop about 30 times with a spatula. The texture is closer to soft handmade ice cream than to the chewy feel typical of gelato.
