Daikokuya Honten is an old Japanese restaurant near Sensoji that serves tendon, a bowl of rice topped with fried shrimp and fish. The fried items are softened by a generous soak in salty soy-based tare. On a weekday at 4:30 pm there was no line to enter, but the tendon took about 20 minutes to arrive after ordering. The thick batter turns soft rather than crisp, and the strong saltiness divides diners.
