Abashiri Kaigan Coast is a seaside walking area about 20 minutes on foot from Abashiri Station. North of the Abashiri River mouth, a stretch of fine sand runs for several hundred meters, with views of Shiretoko and Mozu Rock. In the morning, anglers line up along the shore, and in early autumn salmon fishing rods fill the beach. On windy days the waves turn rough, and going down near the water is dangerous.
