Tien Grandmother's House sits on the second floor of an alley in Hanoi and is a hawker stall selling chao long, a rice porridge with sausage and pork offal. The signature chao long contains liver, offal and blood sausage, and cilantro is cooked in with it. Staff at the entrance direct guests up to the far end of the second floor, where the grandmother explains how to eat the dish. The space is narrow and enclosed, and customers smoke inside, which is uncomfortable for non-smokers.
