Hanoi's Beer Street is a strip of narrow alleys and roadside tables where shops sell beer, drawing both foreigners and locals. People drink bottled beer while watching passersby, and food is often brought in from elsewhere or from a shared kitchen. Around 6 PM it is relatively relaxed, then from about 8 PM it gets crowded, and on Saturdays there are dances and events at the intersection. Touts are aggressive, and the narrow passage mixes people and tables, making it hard to move through.
