Yokohama Chinatown is a large shopping street selling Chinese food and street snacks, a five-minute walk from Ishikawacho Station. Stalls across its alleys offer baked xiaolongbao, bubble tea, dim sum, wonton, and chili shrimp rice bowls, and some restaurants serve 60 to 100 Chinese dishes without limit. The area began when Chinese migrants from Guangdong and Fujian gathered to trade after the Port of Yokohama opened in 1859, and it remains the largest Chinatown in Japan. On Saturdays crowds make the food lines long and the streets hard to walk through.
