O to U is a bakery on the second floor of a stairway leading from Motomachi toward Yamate in Yokohama. It sells croissants and creative breads such as anko and raspberry, chestnut and lemon, and matcha and cassis, made by filling layered pie dough with sweet bean paste. Only three people fit inside the shop at once, and on a Saturday at 10:40 a.m. about eight people were lined up on the stairs, waiting roughly ten minutes. After 1 p.m. most of the bread is sold out, leaving far fewer choices.
