Pungcheon Jangeo is an old restaurant in the back alleys behind Hangang Subin Hospital near Yangnam Intersection in Yangpyeong-dong, Seoul, serving grilled freshwater eel. The eel comes grilled for easy eating in salt, soy sauce, or gochujang versions, served with soy-marinated perilla leaf and green onion kimchi. It is more than a five-minute walk from Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station or Mullae Station, and the floor seating has been replaced with chairs. The eel is grilled over gas rather than charcoal, giving it a chewy texture rather than one that melts softly.
