Tongdosa is a Buddhist temple in the Yeongchwisan mountain area of Yangsan, and it enshrines the true sarira of the Buddha. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the Daeungjeon hall holds no Buddha statue, with the sarira placed at the Geumgang Gyedan and visible through a window. Along with Haeinsa and Songgwangsa, it is counted among Korea's three major temples. On hot days it is hot even in the shade.
