Mamemono to Taiyaki Arashiyama Honten is a specialty shop on the first floor of Shoryuen in Arashiyama, a one-minute walk from Arashiyama Station in Kyoto. It sells round taiyaki filled with anko butter, custard and other fillings. For the anko butter, a cold piece of butter is inserted into the freshly baked taiyaki just before it is handed over, and it is meant to be eaten within a minute. Orders come with a buzzer, and customers wait on a bench nearby; the wait is usually around five minutes, and the butter melts quickly and runs, making the taiyaki awkward to eat while walking.
