Zauo Shinjuku is a Japanese restaurant on the first floor of the Shinjuku Washington Hotel in Nishi-Shinjuku, Tokyo, where customers catch their own fish and have it cooked. When a fish is caught, staff beat a drum to celebrate, and the fish is prepared as hoe (raw fish) or maeuntang (spicy fish stew) as the customer chooses. Boat-shaped seating can be requested when making a reservation, and the fish that is caught is cooked right away. In the evening, reservations fill up and the wait can reach two hours.
