Wan Gao Zhi Jia is a traditional Taiwanese snack shop near Taipei Main Station that serves Tainan-style wan gao, rou yuan, and wan zi tang. Its wan gao is a soft rice-cake base with shiitake mushrooms, meat, and egg, served with soy sauce. The shop opened in 1959, and customers pick up their wan gao themselves and add garlic, chili, or soy sauce from the table as they like. The wan gao is sometimes not warm.
