Laoxiong beef noodle shop

Nowung Woo Yukmyeon is an old noodle shop a 10 to 15 minute walk from the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, serving beef noodles and soy-sauce mixed dumplings. You can choose between a clear broth and a peppery spicy broth, and the thick noodles are chewy like kalguksu or sujebi while the beef is tender. Order at the entrance, then go down to the basement seating to eat, take side dishes yourself from the refrigerator, and pay when you leave. Seating is cramped so groups have to split up, and at lunch you may wait about 15 minutes.
