THE BAR is on the third floor of JR East Hotel Taipei, a three-minute walk from Nanjing Fuxing Station, and serves cocktails, whisky and beer. Its drinks include the JR Punch, a low-alcohol cocktail with fruit flavours, alongside snacks such as a cheese plate and a Luwei platter. On Thursdays a live piano performance runs until 10:30 p.m., and reserving a seat gets you one next to the piano. Seats near the entrance and the restroom see frequent staff and guest traffic, which interrupts conversation.
