Authentic Bar Otani is a Japanese-style cocktail bar in Taipei run by a Japanese owner, and it suits drinking alone. Without a menu, you tell the staff your base spirit or brand, your preferred sweetness, sourness and bitterness, and your desired strength, and they build a fruit cocktail, tea cocktail or classic cocktail to match. The room is dark and quiet with no music, and only up to two people per party are admitted, so the focus stays on the drink rather than conversation. You cannot enter wearing perfume.
