Gokoku Japanese Bakery (Wisma Atria)

Gokoku Japanese Bakery is in the basement of Wisma Atria on Orchard Road in Singapore, selling Japanese-style bread and pastries. The melon pan is soft and fluffy, and the shop also sells Fuji apple and caramel kouign-amann and sweet potato buns. On weekday evenings a long line forms at the register, and near closing time staff pack the bread and tidy the store. The dough has weak flavor, and the teriyaki chicken pizza bun is strongly greasy.
