Kanagari Hanare is in the basement of Nishi-Shinjuku in Shinjuku, Tokyo. It serves shiitake mushrooms, grilled fish, chawanmushi, and pot-cooked rice, prepared in front of diners. Many guests book ahead before visiting, and the freshly cooked white rice that comes after ordering is served in two bowls' worth. Prices run on the higher side.
