Campidoglio Hill sits at the top of Rome's Capitoline Hill, with a large piazza designed by Michelangelo. The piazza centers on the clock tower and equestrian statue of the Palazzo Senatorio, connected by the Cordonata Capitolina staircase, which appears to change width and slope depending on whether viewed from above or below. Behind the city hall building, visitors can see a panorama of the Roman Forum, and from a small park-like area on the left, look down over the city of Rome. Buildings and access paths around the piazza are currently under restoration and repair.
