The Third Tunnel in Paju is a historical site where visitors walk through a tunnel dug by North Korea for a southern invasion. Discovered in 1978, the Third Tunnel is 1,635 meters long, with 265 meters open to the public, and was built to move 30,000 troops per hour. At the Imjingak information center, visitors show identification, buy a ticket, leave belongings in free lockers, and put on a safety helmet. The tunnel is 70 meters underground, and its low ceiling forces tall visitors to keep their heads bowed.
