Governors Island Picnic Point is a picnic area on the south side of the island, about a 10-minute ferry ride from Manhattan. The area has plenty of grass and seating, with views of the Manhattan skyline, the Statue of Liberty, and the New Jersey side. The island has a bike rental shop and public restrooms, and it is good for walking or running without cars. In summer the island stays open late, so you can remain until sunset.
