Nakatanidou is a rice cake shop outside the end of the arcade on the road from Nara Station to Deer Park. Its rice cakes, made with red bean paste and soybean flour, stretch softly and do not stick to the teeth. The line moves quickly even when tourists crowd in, and payment is cash only. The rice-pounding performance happens only a few set times each day, so it can be missed.
